Gov. Charlie Crist and Florida Legislature Discusses Seminole Gaming Compact

Galvano said that he assured Gov. Crist that they can reach an agreement with the tribe. But it will not be the same agreement that Gov. Crist and the Seminole tribe proposed to the Florida legislature in 2009 that would have permitted blackjack and other banked card games at all seven casino facilities of the tribe in Florida. Rep. Galvano and the Legislature have proposed for expanded banked card games at just four of the seven casinos of the tribe to protect the pari-mutuel facilities, which also provides tax revenues to Florida. Rep. Galvano said that he is closely working with the Seminole tribe on a new agreement that can be presented to Gov. Crist. The game of blackjack is already being offered at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tampa, Florida, even though a new gaming compact has not yet been approved. Galvano has argued that the card games are illegally being offered at the gaming facilities, given that the previous gaming agreement that would have permitted them was dismissed by the legislature. Crist, in his State of the State speech on March 2nd, 2010, implored the legislature to approve the gaming compact with the Seminoles. Crist has estimated that more than $400 million in revenue would come to Florida this year if an agreement is reached. Example 1, in this example lets say that the two initial cards are the Jack of Clubs and Ace of Diamonds, if we sum up the values of these card it will be eleven correct? 1 + 10 = 11. But, as we said earlier an ace could be an eleven so ten plus one equals twenty-one. Your ace now is referred as a soft card simply because of its value (eleven). Thus I think someone won that round and in this example it is actually a black jack. How about if the player is dealt 2 aces for example number 2, logically their value will be twenty-two or a two or even twelve. Try to avoid any sort of a pattern. For example, if you realize that for the last ten minutes you have been betting only one or two green chips each hand because the count has not gone very high, you might pop out five greens on the first round after the shuffle. Your expected win is negative on that one bet, but it buys you the ability to bet five or more green chips on the next good count. Do not use bet variation in a mechanical manner. If the count calls for a big bet, just grab a handful of chips and place them in the circle. If you want to bet $200 and have you are betting quarters, for example, you may actually have $200 out there, but if you did not grab exactly the correct number of chips you might bet $175 or $225. People do not seem to pay as much attention to how much you bet as how you bet it. You would probably get more attention carefully counting out $150 than by quickly grabbing a handful of chips that happens to total $225. A side benefit from betting odd amounts is more dealer errors. For example, once I bet $55 in $5 chips and was allowed to insure the whole bet for just $25. The dealer thought I had bet an even $50. Bet what you can get away with rather than trying to bet an optimal amount that depends on the count. If the count is negative, try to bet the least you can get away with. If you have an edge, try to bet as close to the optimal amount as possible with the constraint that you want your bet size to look natural to whoever is watching.
