Blackjack is a well known card game since recorded gambling. Playing blackjack is easy – just get a twenty – one (21) by summing up card values. How? Once the dealer deals a player a pair of cards, try to add the values. If your sum equals to twenty one “thanks friend”. “Blackjack!” as most winners are hoping to exclaim with enthusiasm. Nonetheless, if not lets hope, the sum of your cards is near but not beyond 21 and higher than what the dealer deals themselves. Blackjack Counting 101: Number cards are only equal to their face value 2 – 10. The ace has a dual value and can be either 1 or 11. Then, royalty or face cards all equal to ten. Example 1, in this example lets say that the two initial cards are the Jack of Clubs and Ace of Diamonds, if we sum up the values of these card it will be eleven correct? 1 + 10 = 11. But, as we said earlier an ace could be an eleven so ten plus one equals twenty-one. Your ace now is referred as a soft card simply because of its value (eleven). Thus I think someone won that round and in this example it is actually a black jack. How about if the player is dealt 2 aces for example number 2, logically their value will be twenty-two or a two or even twelve. In order to be in the game, one should ask for another card, let’s say that the next card that comes up is a nine. 21 = 11 + 1 + 9. How come? Remember an ace can be counted as either a one or an eleven. This time the ace, which has a value of 1 is referred to as hard card. Statistics and probability enthusiast create their own winning formula(s). Honestly, there are blackjack players who make blackjack a profession. This also is a caution of most casinos. So, to help counter the professional gamblers that play blackjack casinos ended up using multiple decks to help prevent card counting. It was done to help prevent losses and the multiple decks are typically 2 -10 (decks) which they call a shoe. Casinos make profit not just by playing blackjack. Moreover, there are also side bets as they call it. Here are some to name a few. Triple 7′s: A seven, you get paid equal to your bet. Two 7′s get paid thrice your bet and finally (and fortunately) Three 7′s get paid seven times. And you win – with 21! Six-to-Eight = if you get a six, a seven, and an eight your bet is paid doubled. And it is again a 21! A-Nine-A = if you 2 aces and a nine this time your bet is paid 6 times. And again 21! It is still your judgment call …, when you’re in a streak would you still sit-and-play or stand-and-go? ATTENTION! Different casinos have their own set of rules. Observe before you sit and play.
